Meeting with an audience of peers from a range of the world’s leading companies, this informal but luxurious Breakfast Briefing took place in the clouds, in western Europe’s tallest building.

Offering breath-taking panoramic views across the city and River Thames, the Shangri-La at The Shard provided the perfect location for attendees to start to their day. With the chance to join this round table for an open discussion on protecting their organisations data.

For modern organisations, the lifecycles of data are continuously surrounded by risk. Sensitive data resides in multiple locations, as well as being accessed and shared both internally and externally by users and third-parties alike. Therefore, while data visibility is one piece of the puzzle when it comes to securing data, tracking what is being done with the data is an ever increasing challenge.

While it is easy for individual users to know what is happening with the data they create and handle, it is much harder to grasp the full scope of data on an organizational level. Where is all the sensitive data located? Where is it being moved to? Who has access? Do you have visibility of data throughout its entire lifecycle? The list of questions can seem endless. And without answers to these, there is serious concern for both data health and security compliance.

It is essential to protect business-critical data against data loss and compliance events without creating an unnecessary barrier to legitimate business processes. Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is becoming a growing priority for businesses today, but many enterprise DLP implementations fail because they are too hard to setup, too hard to manage, too disruptive to the end users, and get too little support from the business leaders.

The session looked at a variety of case studies and real-time examples, allowing attendees to know their data, and protect it with ease, throughout the entire lifecycle!

Allowing them to learn about and take-away key insights –

  • The IDC estimates that by 2025, 463 exabytes of data will be created every single .
  • According to the 2021 Verizon Data Breach Incident Report, 85% of breaches in 2021 involved the human element.
  • A third of breaches in 2021 were due to Insider threats (Forrester).
  • IBM estimates that between 0.5% and 2% of an organisation’s data is ‘critical’ – in other words, it has a significant financial value to the company. This can account for up to 70% of brand or market value.
