Located in the Southwark neighbourhood of London, Shangri-La The Shard hugs the south banks of the Thames.
Starting on level 34 – a soaring 125 metres high – the Shangri-La occupies 18 floors of The Shard, an architectural icon and Western Europe’s tallest building. Guests can connect to the whole city through panoramic skyline views overlooking the River Thames and many beloved landmarks.
It was here that we organised a fantastic Breakfast Briefing event on behalf of Experis (Manpower Group) for 30 guests, from a wide range of leading UK and global organisations.
Their reason for attending was to discover how data could help them drive better results from recruitment, retention and their workforce strategies.
While IT skills needs are evolving faster than ever before and specialised technology talent is at its peak, essential soft skills, aka ‘power skills’ are being neglected in the recruitment and resourcing process.
When asked why they were having difficulty filling tech roles, 34% of hiring managers said candidates did not have the right technical skills, 32% said they didn’t have the right relevant experience, and 27% said they didn’t have the right soft skills.
With so many organisations competing to recruit IT, workers, from the same talent pool, there is a golden opportunity for employers to look further afield. To get better results from recruitment, retention and HR strategies, talent leaders can leverage data-analytics tools to make better decisions and reduce attrition.
Organisations can look to fully explore workforce potential and reskill employees to fill gaps and adapt to a new workplace reality to lead with confidence. There’s an opportunity in cutting down costs by utilising Experis’s Cross-Border Capabilities which allows remote working. Other opportunities include optimizing contingent resources and adopting staffing as a service model.
Joining us in this interactive and engaging breakfast roundtable were senior executives looking to transform their tech talent strategy. During the session, speakers emphasised the key actions they must take to discover a hidden talent, with the right hard and soft skills to fit for their organisation.
- The Search for Hidden Talent: With tech employers needing to recruit on potential and not the past. Traditional approaches focused on filtering candidates according to qualifications and experiences may not identify those recruits who have the raw qualities that employers require.
- Leading with Confidence: Companies guided by culture and values will be those that best adapt to the new workforce reality and win the war on talent. Significantly, 7 in 10 workers say having leaders that they can trust, and follow is important to them, and 2 in 3 want to work for organizations that share their values.
- In data we trust: Data analytics tools allow recruitment and HR functions to make better decisions and reduce attrition. Attendees found out how and why companies need to use/leverage data to get better results from recruitment, retention, and HR strategy.
- Importance of reskilling employees: Companies must reskill and upskill their employees so that they can fill in the gaps and tackle future challenges.
